Why doesn’t paint stick to my house?
A look into paint’s history will show you that the main reason paint would last over ten years before 1978 was because it contained lead. However, in 1978 the use of lead in paint became illegal in the United States. It has since been difficult, to find a substitute that would work as good at helping paint stick. Today’s non-lead-based paint products last designed to last 3 to 5 years on average. This is why most paint contractors offer a 1 to 2-year warranty. The fastest growing franchises in the country are in painting sector. Paint manufacturers are bringing in roughly 31.4 billion dollars a year. A good portion of that amount was from REPEAT business.
Is Home Shield Coating® a new product?
No, permanent coatings have been used commercially for many years in different applications, such as protecting high-rise buildings, naval bases, and power plants. Permanent coatings are mainly used where a long-lasting protective coating is needed. Home Shield Coating® was initially used for commercial and industrial applications, and it was introduced into the residential housing market in 1999. As the cost of painting keeps rising, it’s no longer practical to continue painting a house every 3 to 5 years.
Do Ceramic Wall Coatings Provide Any Type of R-Value?
No. While ceramic particles in coatings can help reduce exterior wall temperatures, they do not provide a measurable R-Value. The actual R-Value of your walls depends on factors such as insulation type, wall structure, and the year your property was built. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has taken action against several wall coating companies for falsely claiming R-Values and promoting 30% to 50% utility bill reductions. These claims are misleading and have been deemed false and illegal by the FTC. Permanent Wall Coatings should not be relied upon to create any type of measurable insulation value.

Is Home Shield Coating® an Elastomeric Paint?
Home Shield Coating® is an elastomeric copolymer resin it’s a hybrid coating. Over the years, scientists, and chemist have worked hard to make elastomeric coatings better. They found new materials and ways to make the coatings stick better and last even longer. Home Shield is thinner and lighter than original elastomeric coatings so its breaths better. Home Shield Coating® is also applied over a surface penetrating bonding agent primer (pink primer). This super primer is designed to penetrate the surface it’s put over and dries to a pink tacky film. Over this tacky film two coats of Home Shield Coating® topcoat are applied. Home Shield is truly a versatile coating that is ideal for Cedar Siding, Hardie Board, Aluminum Siding, Brick & Stucco and is available in any color.
Why don’t you coat over Vinyl Siding?
It’s usually a bad idea to paint or coat vinyl siding. Home Shield Coating® will stick to anything, even vinyl siding. But the problem with vinyl siding is how it’s installed. It sorts of floats on the side of the wall to allow for expansion and contraction. Vinyl siding shifts with weather changes. So, if you coat a house in the summer, you might see the old color at the seams when the weather gets cooler. Another issue is color selection. If you pick a darker color, the siding could warp from the heat of UV rays.
Why don’t you coat over Lead Based Paint?
Home Shield Coating® is applied over a special bonding agent primer. This primer is made to soak into (penetrate) any surface we spray it on. It helps make a permanent bond with our Home Shield Coating® topcoat. The issue is that no product can really soak into (penetrate) lead-based paint. This means the lead-based paint will have to be completely removed from the walls. We don’t offer lead paint stripping services currently, so we don’t coat properties with lead-based paint
