At Home Shield Coating®, protecting homes isn’t just what we do — it’s been my life’s work for more than 27 years.

I was born in Cuba and came to the United States with my family when I was just three years old. We settled in Chicago’s Logan Square neighborhood, where I attended Chicago Public Schools and learned the value of hard work at an early age. Growing up, nothing was handed to me. Every opportunity had to be earned, and those experiences shaped the way I run our company today.

After earning my real estate license in 1997 and working with Century 21, I realized my passion wasn’t just selling homes — it was helping people protect one of the biggest investments they would ever make. In 1998, I founded House Doctors Handyman Service, where I gained firsthand experience repairing the damage caused by failing paint systems, water intrusion, wood rot, and deferred maintenance.

Everything changed in 1999.

While visiting Miami Beach, I was introduced to a commercial-grade permanent coating system unlike anything I had ever seen. It wasn’t just another paint — it was a heavy-duty coating designed to waterproof, protect, and dramatically outlast traditional exterior paint. I saw the potential immediately, but I also knew one thing:

If it could survive the brutal freeze-thaw cycles of Chicago winters, it could survive anywhere.

Over the next several years, we tested, refined, and perfected the system in some of the harshest climates in America — from the icy winters of Illinois and Wisconsin to the relentless heat, humidity, and hurricanes of Florida. Those years of real-world experience helped shape what would become Home Shield Coating®.
