Most people don’t spend much time thinking about their gutters but understanding their importance may prevent costly home repair bills. For example, did you know that most foundation cracks and basement flooding is caused primarily by defective gutters? If you’re getting water in your basement have your gutters checked; they may need to get repaired or replaced. This should be the first thing done before you get into an expensive waterproofing project. Most of the time the correct size gutter working properly will stop basement seepage.
The primary purpose of gutters is to catch the water coming off the roof and move it away from your home, which in turn protects your siding, windows, doors, and foundation from water damage. Many homeowners don’t realize how much damage can occur when their gutters are clogged, leaking, or broken. When gutters aren’t functioning properly, rainwater runs off the roof and collects on the ground near the foundation. Heavy rain can result in standing pools of water, which can cause a multitude of problems. Our Fast Flow Gutters® are oversized at 6” they catch 40% more water than the standard builder grade 4” or 5” gutters most homes have. We pair our oversized gutters with oversized 3×4 downspouts to catch and move enormous amounts of water away from your foundation as fast as possible. Sitting water near your foundation can cause some severe damage.

How do I Stop Basement Water Seepage?
If you sit in your car in front of your property during a massive rain storm, you will see precisely where the rainwater is going. This is called following the water. You will see exactly how effectively or ineffectively your current gutters are working. Most water seepage problems can be resolved by replacing your existing gutters to a bigger system. This is also a cheaper solution than the alternative of taking on a usually costly waterproofing project.
Do I have the correct size gutter on my home?
If you have a small two-bedroom home the standard 4” to 5” builder grade, gutters should be fine. Anything bigger than a two bedroom home you should go with 6” Gutters and 3×4 Downspouts.
What are Leaf Ridges?
Most gutters have flat bottoms, and with time leaves dirt and debris accumulate on the bottom of the gutter making it challenging to keep them clean. Leaf Ridges come standard with our 6” gutters they help the gutters stay cleaner longer since they aren’t flat water can lift and flush out debris.
Does my house need gutters?
Yes, Gutters serve an essential part in water management. It’s also cheaper to pay for gutters once than to continuously perform repairs caused by water damage.
Can my current gutters be removed and re-installed to correct the pitch?
No, Builder grade gutters are usually made from really thin galvanized metal or aluminum, and they become easily damaged when removed and re-installed.
How often should I clean my gutters?
Gutters should be cleaned twice a year, in early spring and late fall. If you don’t want to worry about cleaning your gutters, then look into our Fast Flow Gutter Guard® system.
